Northamptonshire County Girls V Hereford and Worcester, 31 July 2016

Northants Girls continued their good start to the season with the match against Hereford and Worcester resulting in a 8 ½ to 4 ½ win to Northamptonshire.  The match was a home match and courtesy of the course was generously provided by Northampton Golf Club.  It was a lovely sunny day with quite strong winds at times but the course was presented in great condition and encouraged good play. Our thanks go to the membership and staff at N.G.C for making the girls feel so welcome and for providing delicious post match food.

 Becky Maclaren was Captain for the match and did a great job in leading the team on the day.

 The scratch team, consisting of Ellie, Becky, Millie, Hattie, Sinead and Katie won 4 - 2, which with their 6 - 0 win against Warwickshire has qualified them to play in the South Regional Final against Buckinghamshire on the 4^Th September at Mosely Golf Club.   Great team achievement, well done girls!

The handicap team of Baylie, Sophie and Hannah also played very well in some close matches, however with only Sophie winning her match the overall win went to Hereford and Worcester, who have now qualified for the handicap section in the South Regional Final.

The girls in the experience section Chelsey, Lottie and Emily-Grace brought an energy and level of enthusiasm to the match that was quite something else, they demonstrated great determination in winning their matches but also managed to chat and skip the whole way around the course!  Their result was a 2 ½ to ½ win.

I would like to thank Anne Sollowell, the CJO for H & W and her team of helpers on the day, also thanks to Andy Fairweather and Steve Bowers from Northants and to the parents for their unfailing support.
