Seniors Anglian League v Suffolk
Kettering GC, 10TH May 2017
After winning the Anglian league for the past three seasons, the County Seniors were in no mood to relinquish their title at Kettering.
On a perfect day the morning foursomes were just edged by the County Seniors three points to two.
The highlight of the morning foursomes was a hole in one on the 7th hole by Andrew MacDonald of Overstone Park which changed the game in the home teams favour. Lunch was a lot sweeter with Andrew providing the drinks!!. Well done to Andrew.
The afternoon singles proved to be an extremely close call, with Suffolk obviously benefiting from their practise round on Tuesday.
With nine matches completed the overall match was all square, leaving Mike Abbotts and Mark Jackson all square after fifteen holes. Mike managed to win sixteen and seventeen to secure the match for the home team.
A big thank you to Kettering for providing the course in good condition and the excellent catering staff who really looked after us so well. The pie was superb.
To the team, well played. The season ahead will not be easy with Norfolk and Lincolnshire away. With this spirit we can succeed.
