Seniors v. Shropshire and Herefordshire

Collingtree Park 5^th June 2017.

The County seniors entertained a traditionally strong S&H team at a below par Collingtree Park. It is sad to see the overall course in poor condition, I do hope it will be restored to its former glory.

The morning greensomes were close with S&H just edging ahead.

The afternoon better ball matches were marred by a bizarre injury to Nick Kelly of S&H .With the onset of heavy rain, Nick put on his waterproof trousers on the 11^th fairway. This coincided with his umbrella being blown back up the fairway. His reaction was to chase the umbrella, only to trip over his waterproof trouser and land heavily on his right shoulder.

At Northampton hospital later, a double fracture was revealed.

Nick will visit his GP this morning before having expected surgery.

We all wish Nick a speedy recovery.

The afternoon Better Ball was a win for S&H eight points to four points.
