2021 Ladies Vets 2nd v Cambridgeshire match

Monday 19th May at Cambridge Meridian GC

Our first match of the season took place at Cambridge Meridian and was played in excellent spirits on both sides.  There was an air of being allowed out again after months of lockdown and a lot of catching up with old friends on both sides.

The sun shone on both teams and the threat of rain didn’t materialise until the last few matches were coming over the brow of the hill on the 18th.  Four of the eight matches finished on the last putt on the last hole but the rain didn’t seem to dampen spirits and the laughter could be heard from the shelter of the bar as each side tried to get their putts in the hole to halve their matches.  These four results were crucial to the overall result, as well as the two wins coming in the middle of the field. 

It was an honour to send out the team to do battle and everyone gave it their very best on the day.  Cambridge Meridian were very hospitable and the opposition very welcoming.  The venue was not hard to find but two of the Northants team then got lost on the course itself, any flag will do ladies!

I would like to thank all the Northants Vets team for travelling to Cambridge and for the spirit in which the match was played.  Northants lost by 4 and half matches to 3 and a half which was a very respectable result.
