What a Difference a month makes

At the end of April we played Worcestershire in one of the frostiest and driest Aprils on record, and the ball was running like the middle of summer. Fast forward to late May and the conditions underfoot and overhead could not have been more different, Despite the recent wet weather Milton was in great condition and showed few signs of the amount of rain during the month. The course and greens were once again in excellent condition.

It was a pleasure to host Bedfordshire for a fixture which has proved difficult to hold in the past. We especially looked forward to playing a full fixture with 9 holes greensomes followed by 18holes 4BBB. The weather held off for most of the morning with Bedfordshire taking a 4-1 lead into lunch. The rain which had effected the last 2 morning matches reappeared in the afternoon with a couple of heavy showers. This did not deter the Bedfordshire team gaining a further 7 points to our 3.

The outstanding performance for Northamptonshire came from Richard Cole and Alan Freeman, halving in the morning and winning 4 &3 in the afternoon.

We were pleased to welcome Tom Webster and Jamie Scholey making their first appearances . We especially thankful to Geoff Dyson for stepping in at short notice.
