It was an honour to be invited by Pam Hall, President of Leicestershire and Rutland's Past Captains Association to join them in their celebration of 50 years as an association. The format was a Stableford where each county totalled their points to find the winner.
The competition was held at Beedles Lake golf club, a parkland course with various water hazards coming in to play. Our team consisted of 12 ladies including 3 past Presidents , Vera White, Jackie Rolfe and Rosemary Scott as well as past committee members who all agreed that the course offered some challenging holes but was in good condition considering the overnight rain.
Ladies from Nottinghamshire Past Captains were also invited so we were playing with a mix of Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire players. When the totals were added up Nottinghamshire had 326 points, Northamptonshire had 335 points and the Leicestershire ladies came out winners with 377 points.
After the match we enjoyed an excellent meal of either chicken supreme , steamed cod or a vegetarian option and a choice of desserts with coffee to follow. Everyone agreed the day was a great success and playing a Stapleford a pleasant change from match play.
It is hoped that this competition may continue and other Counties will get involved. Derbyshire had been invited but could not field a team on this particular day.
