When we arrived at Glen Gorse golf course on Wednesday the 12th of July both teams were given a warm welcome from the lady captain who had made sure there was coffee waiting for us. Once the pairings had been sorted we started out to play being given the warning that should there be lightening we would hear one loud hooter and would need to leave the course. However, the only adverse weather was a short sharp shower which didn't cause any problems.
The course was in great condition and everyone commented on the friendly atmosphere during play. The first 4 matches saw the honours being shared and then Leicestershire won the next 2 games with the last 2 games going down the 18th hole before a win for Northamptonshire on the final putt of the match and a tense finish for Leicestershire making them 5/3 winners overall.
During the delicious meal of chicken salad and strawberry cheesecake there was a lot of chat about the games and congratulations to 4 ladies who managed birdies during their matches.
