NGL Women's Vets Spring Meeting

15th May 2023 at Elton Furze GC

On Monday 15th May 2023 69 ladies attended the Spring event at Elton Furze, this was an individual stableford competition with 4 divisions - Silver, Bronze Div 1, Bronze Div 2 and Senior (over 70), there was a trophy for the winner of each division and a trophy for the overall winner so a lot to play for.

The course was still wet in places following all the heavy rain we had had recently and was playing long especially as the rough was very dense and the carry, from tee to fairway, was long all of which favoured the long hitters, people with power and those at the top of their game. The day was windy and sunny but cool in the shade although it didn't rain until all were on the way home. Many ladies came into the clubhouse sure that their score would be bottom as it was poor only to find many people were in the same position, fortunately some people still played well which was very impressive (I did not!).

The overall winner was Oggie Wentworth, a home player, with an impressive 33 points - well done to her.
