Wellingborough July 11th 2011
Played on a perfect summer’s day at Wellingborough GC the County Seniors recorded one of their most emphatic wins ever.
The Suffolk Captain Jon Marks asked if we could play aggregate golf over the 18 holes, with the holes won by each team totalled at the end. We agreed. as it meant that all 18 holes counted and seemed fair toSuffolk, who had travelled a long way for this traditional 18 hole fixture.
Notable performances on the day were John MacCallum who after his recent illness problems was able to complete all 18 holes recording a 3up win. Also Rodney Haig and Jim Pagan who came from 2 down to win 1 up.
Thank you must go to Wellingborough GC for the courtesy of the course, the condition of the course and the excellent food.
Congratulations to all of the players for a magnificent win.
Final score was 8 holes up or 10 points to 0.
Our next match is against Leicestershire on the 28th July.
