Seniors v. Cambridgeshire

NGU Seniors were successful in their first competative match of the season. Hosting Cambridgeshire in the opening Anglian Seniors League match of the season at Collingtree Park. The course was in fine condition on a blustery day. The morning round was played on a friendly basis over 9 holes.

 

The serious business got underway after lunch. The Northants team kicked off with three staight wins including a 10 hole victory by Alan Linney. Three comfortable wins in the next four matches by Brian O'Connell, Ted Dunn and Howard May assured almost certain victory. This came in the tenth game when Mike Abbotts finished 8 holes up on his opponent. Despite losing the two remaining matches, the overall result was 7-5 in Northants favour with a whoping 23 hole advantage.
