With the course in excellent condition Northants fielded two debutantes in Gerry McGrady and David Thomson. The morning greensomes gave Northants a two point lead going into the afternoon.

The afternoon fourballs were hard fought with every match going to the final hole. With the first two matches halved; Northants won the four remaining matches to reverse last year's defeat at Harbourne.

The team go into their next match which will be the crucial "Anglian Seniors League" match against Suffolk having suffered just a single defeat in the season so far. Last year Suffolk  won this match but we secured the league on holes up over the season. This year both teams are unbeaten. Should Suffolk win they will secure the league as this is their last match. A Northants victory would leave the door open for ourselves and Lincolnshire (our opponents for the final league match of the season).
