Northants V Warwickshire Girls, Sunday 15th May 2016

Northants girls had an excellent start to the season with an 8 ½ to 3 ½ win against Warwickshire.  The match was hosted by Warwickshire and played at Henley-on-Arden Golf and Country Club.  We were welcomed by Linda their Ladies Captain and the competition was started by Jane Dennick their County President, our thanks go to Warwickshire for their warm hospitality.  It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and the course provided excellent playing conditions.

The scratch team played fantastically well and managed to achieve a great result in winning all six matches.  The handicap section also performed very well but came up against players who performed well below their handicaps, this combined with the number of shots being given unfortunately meant we lost 2/1. The girls in the experience matches who were representing the County for the first time in a league match were focused and played very well resulting in a draw of 1 ½ games each.

Northants were as ever showing great team spirit and supported the final games to the finishing holes. Well done to Yum, Team Captain for her encouragement and camaraderie.  Many thanks to parents for their continued support throughout the day, we couldn’t do it without you and it was great to see so many blue jumpers out in force! 

I think Shane has summed up the match perfectly, ‘A brilliant result, with an all round team performance”.  Very well done girls, lets keep it going.
