Midland Seniors six man team qualifier at Shirley GC.
Your senior’s team recorded their best result since 2010 when we qualified for the finals at Ferndown GC.
The course needed accurate tee shots and approach shots. The pin positions were to say the least imaginative.
After the morning eighteen holes, the team were one shot behind leaders Worcestershire with Richard Cole recording the individual am score with a 75.
The afternoon was difficult for all of the teams coming in with some big numbers. It became obvious that only three teams were in the final running, Worcester,Staffordand us.
Worcestershire finally came out on top by two shots from Staffordshire with Northamptonshire a further four shots behind.
With five scores to count from six players, an average of seventy nine shots per player secured the win.
A big thank you to Richard Cole, Ian Kerr, Roger Butler, Alan Wrigley, Ted Dunn and Brian O’Connell who played their hardest to win. Also Alan Freeman, who as reserve played the practise round and caddied for Richard Cole in the afternoon round.
Richard shot another 75 in the afternoon round to secure the lowest gross of the day 150. Richard deserved to be on the winning side, just brilliant golf.
