Northamptonshire County Seniors v Norfolk Seniors

7^th July 2016.

When the two teams met atKettering, both had won two league matches and were level on overall games won. What followed was to show just how evenly matched the sides are.

Norfolk travelled up on the Wednesday and played a practise round in preparation.

The morning foursomes were halved with both side winning two matches.

A well presented lunch was enjoyed by both sides. Alan Wrigley disappeared to the range looking for a swing shortly before teeing off. What a good move that was, coming in with a 7 and 6 win after struggling in the morning.

Alan Freeman from Overstone came in with a 6 and 4 win.

The rest of the matches were nip and tuck, four being halved and two won by a margin of one up none more desperate than myself, being five up after nine holes and holing a long putt on the 18^th for a half.

The final afternoon score was six to four to the home side ,giving an overall  winning margin of two points.

The Seniors remain undefeated for nearly three years and have one final Anglian league fixture away against Cambridgeon the 28^th July. We now top the league with a maximum six points.

Both sides enjoyed aKetteringcourse in excellent condition, with pin positions and green speeds comparable withAugusta.

Thank you to the members for closing the tee very early for us and the catering staff for some fine food.

Well done to all the team for hanging in there. A great spirit as usual.
