Derbyshire Seniors v Northamptonshire Seniors
Ormonde Fields GC
Monday July 31st 2017.
A very enjoyable day was had by all of the players at Ormonde Fields GC.
A typical Derbyshire course, hilly and a real challenge after heavy recent rainfall. The course was built in the early 90’s in an area famous for coalmining. A lot of natural features are in view, encouraging abundant wildlife.
The morning greensomes were won by Derbyshire and a big effort was needed by the Seniors in the afternoon better ball.
A very successful afternoon saw the Seniors run out overall winners on the day.
The obvious superior fitness of the Northampton team was plain to see by the buggy riding Hiams and Dare.
A rare friendly win for the Seniors was most welcome.
These days really are what golf is all about. Meeting old friends and enjoying each others company.
Long may it continue.
