Friendly v Staffordshire Seniors

The Staffordshire team arrived in a jubilant mood after their win over Cambridgeshire the previous day to be crowned Midland Seniors League Champions following our success last year.

That might have been dented a little as Northamptonshire enjoyed a fruitful morning winning the greensomes by 4 1/2 to 1 1/2. But Staffordshire weren't champions for nothing and came back strongly in the afternoon taking the fourballs 8 to 4, to run out overall winners by the narrowest of margins 9 1/2 to 8 1/2.

Stars for the day were Gary Hardy and Billy Beard who took a maximum 3 points , and Alan Freeman and Nigel Palmer, who were undefeated, delivering 2 points.

A special mention to Dean McIntyre, John Evans and Billy Beard who were representing the County Seniors for the first time. We look forward to you being part of the squad for 2020.

A big thank you to everyone who took part and especially those who responded to Alan's late call for players , as the game had looked in doubt at one point.
