NGL W omen's Vets 1st team  match v Leicestershire & Rutland

24th June 2024 at Kettering GC

In glorious sun shine the combatants of Northamptonshire Vets and Leicestershire and Rutland Vets  prepared for their afternoon golf battles, playing off scratch.
The course was in excellent condition with some aesthetic changes being made with bushes and trees taken down to open up the views around the course.
Three players made their County debut,Caroline Hall, Ellen Roe and Sarah Beattie.

The matches were very equal with some excellent golf being played. Two matches went to the 18th hole and to halve the matches Suzanne Wright, playing with Linda Sherry in first place had to sink a birdie putt to halve the match and she did it.
Gill Snelson and Lou Harte followed closely with the outcome of the match depending on the final putt being taken by Gill Snelson. Holding their breath they watched the very long putt find the cup to even the match .
The final score of 4-4 was a fair reflection of the competitiveness of the players and their enthusiasm for their county golf.
The chatter around the tables never stopped as the players tucked into their lasagne, seemingly a favourite of the local chefs.
Well done to all the players and to Carol Collins for her support and commitment throughout the day.
