U14s Junior Boys practice match  Northants South v Northants North

The County Boys Practice Match at Collingtree Park ended in a win today for the Northampton-based team “NORTHANTS SOUTH” who overcame “NORTHANTS NORTH” the best of the other Northants clubs from Wellingborough, Peterborough and Kettering (plus a special Collingtree Park guest!) by 6.5 points to 3.5 points. Well done to the Northampton, Northants County, Overstone and Rushden players on their team’s win.

Unfortunately the weather meant the last two matches were unable to complete all 18 holes, with both games capable of going either way and their ‘result' was included at the point they had to abandon. 

The matches were played off scratch and were closely contested over the challenging Collingtree Park course which was in great condition with excellent greens. A huge thanks goes to the Club for hosting this and providing the block of tee times and organising the catering-a truly outstanding venue.  

Hopefully this matchplay practice reinforced the importance keeping your ball in play, being aware of where your opponent is in the hole, how many shots they have had, and whether you need to be safe or aggressive with your next shot. Some matches were extremely close and others not so !!
Matchplay singles is a very different game so it’s all good experience for the lads.
