U16’s friendly v Lincs and Leics.
A really awful morning weather wise, which meant only 14 holes were open and 11 of the 14 were on temporaries.
Despite this the boys managed 9 holes of foursomes. The highlight form Northamptonshire was Ollie Penberthy (Captain) and 11 year old Josh Bland winning both their games.
Ollie Walden and Jack Meakin also picked up 1.5 points.
Over all, Northamptonshire finished the morning all square against Lincolnshire and 1.5 - 2.5 down to Leicestershire.
In the afternoon singles, the sun made a late appearance. Josh Bland took both his games to the last hole and he picked up half a point. Which is excellent playing in his first match and possibly the youngest U16 player for some years.
The other lads struggled on the temporary greens, but Cameron Black and Ollie Walden managed to pick up a point each towards the end of the day. Many of the other games were fairly tight and in general the matches were closer than the final result showed.
Overall match result:
Northamptonshire 2.5 - 9.5 Lincolnshire
Northamptonshire 3.5 - 8.5 Leicestershire.
Leading points scorer: Josh Bland: 2.5 points and Captain Ollie Penberthy: 2 points.
