Carol Collins and Rosie Cullis after the match
The weather was not as evil as the forecast suggested, all players were wrapped up in their waterproofs ready for any deluge that would be thrown at them.
The course at Brampton Heath is very challenging and any wayward shot disappear into a gorse bush or ditch.
The greens are not easy to read but they were in excellent condition.
Although the result was a 7-1 loss 5 of the matches were lost 2&1 and one match was lost on the 18th green.
Vera White and Heather Williams won 4&3 against the the Captain Lisa Rogers and Beryl Clay According to their Captain Vera was a superstar from the beginning of the game.
Chater and giggles emanated from the dining room and then the meal was served.
Well done to the lady chef and her helpers as the cottage pie and vegetables were excellent and the huge portions of apple crumble and custard silenced the conversation for a while.
Eight players were playing their first game for their county vets so they were given a Brampton Heath marker to commemorate the occasion.
An excellent day for everyone Perhaps not the result we wanted but the fighting spirit and enthusiasm led to a very enjoyable day.
