Northamptonshire W omen's Past Captains  match v Oxfordshire

31st July 2025 at Feldon Valley GC

The match against Oxfordshire was held at Feldon Valley (formerly Brailes Golf Club) on Thursday 31st July in beautiful sunshine in the heart of the Cotswolds.  Everyone seemed to have travelled a long way to get to the venue, even some of the Oxfordshire ladies.  The golf club has undergone a complete transformation in recent years and was well worth the journey.  

The match itself was played from a two tee start which meant that there was not as much wait for the last groups to come in and lots of tales of the golf course were shared amongst the groups.  Feldon Valley is a course which has lots of hills and ditches to negotiate, every hole seemed to have a twist to it and required thinking about, where to aim, where to lay up, where to take a risk and where you could leave it to your partner! 

One highlight of the day was on the par 3, 11th where Northamptonshire’s Diane Green scored a hole in one!

The match did not go Northants’ way, the final result being 6 v 2 to Oxfordshire.  We are looking forward to inviting them back to our County in 2026.
