Review of the Year: 2020 NGL Boys & Girls Championship

Mark Stockdale and Leah Ribano relished their status as the lowest respective handicap golfers in the 2020 NGL Boys and Girls County Championships as they grabbed the top prizes at Northampton.

After jointly holding the lead with Peterborough Milton duo Jacob Williams and Euan Herson following a three-over-par 75 in the morning, two-handicapper Stockdale surged four shots clear with five birdies in a second round 70.

Ribano, who plays off three, rarely looked in danger of missing out on the Girls gross title as she carded consecutive one-over-par rounds of 74 to finish 16 strokes clear of Shivani Karthikeyan (Milton).

Northants County members were successful in the individual net categories as Joe Jaggard clinched the Boys crown by one from Jody Parfitt (Collingtree Park) with a 36-hole total of net 137, while Eloise Feely-Ley won the Girls event on 139.

Matty Mills claimed the Irish Cup Singles prize with 42 points, and also combined with Milton B team colleagues Kai Raymond, Charlie Pearce and Herson to secure the Scottish Cup.

The Shoe & Leather Cup went to Northants County’s Oliver Pritchett, Benjamin Bailey and both Jaggard brothers Joe and Aidan.
