Irvine clinches Ladies Senior Championship

Northampton’s Alison Irvine won the NGL Ladies Senior Championship title by three strokes after carding a gross round of 81 at Wellingborough GC.

Runner-up Gill Hodgson’s gross birdie on the closing hole meant the Overstone Park golfer bagged the net prize by two from Northampton’s Anne Elizabeth Goodchild and home club member Gill Snelson, who also finished third in the gross category.

In the higher-handicap Stableford competition, Wendy Mckie (Brampton Heath) clinched the Tazza Trophy as her tally of 33 points was one more than Andrea Whitlam (Kettering) and Carole Page (Northampton) could manage.
