MATCH REPORT

Played at Kettering Golf Club in glorious spring sunshine, the Course was playing fast with tricky greens.

After a disappointing morning foursomes series, and facing a 3.5 – 1.5 deficit at lunchtime, this young County side showed a lot of mettle mounting a stirring afternoon fightback.

With 4.5 points from the first 6 singles matches, the match was finely poised. The fightback was never complete however and County fortunes were epitomised by Botty’s half. Darren Close finishing birdie – birdie to snatch a half point, holing a 40 footer from off the front of the last green in the process!

Some very encouraging performances though with Paul Hodgkiss on full points (75% on the Izzard Index...Steve & Martin please discuss!!)

An excellent day also for Lloyd and Campbell who played some thrilling foursomes golf for a morning half point, with both turning in very accomplished singles performances.

Good afternoon performances also from Ryan Evans, well under par in winning 4/3 and Andy Lilly who battled out an excellent half having been 2 down with four to play.

This match concludes the pre-season fixtures and we look forward to the League campaign starting next month.
